Autumn is a wonderful time. It is the end of the beginning. In spring, everything comes to life after being dormant during the cold winter months. Then summer comes and everything blooms and grows. Finally, autumn is upon us and the trees lose their leaves waiting for the next time they can come back to life.

Autumn leaves are changing color, the air is crisp and clean early in the morning, the sound of leaves rustling as they float through the air moving as if ready to travel wherever the wind of old takes them. These are the sounds and sights of fall.

Autumn is a perfect time to go for a walk, or better yet, take your dog with you.

This is also a good time for photography. The amazing colors of the leaves turning red, orange, and gold, and the way the light shines through the canopy of leaves makes for truly jaw-dropping shots.

Action shots of dogs (large or small) romping through piles of leaves, writhing in ecstasy on top of the pile, trying to catch falling leaves in their mouths, or running down a path with sunlight behind them. These make for some amazing shots!

Taking advantage of the spectacular backgrounds and scenery provided by fall leaves can make a photo of your best friend that much more interesting. It may even be worthy of the honor of hanging on your wall, and not just your fall screen saver on your computer, tablet, or phone.

With the new era of digital cameras and camera phones, we now take more photos than ever before. Years ago, we were limited in how many pictures we could take, based on how much film you could afford and the cost of developing the film…unless you were lucky enough to have your own darkroom!

Taking 36 photos in a week used to be a lot, but now that almost everyone has a cell phone and those phones have an HD camera on their phone, it’s nothing to take 36 photos in a matter of minutes. Our cameras and phones are always reaching their limits and we have to review and delete hundreds of images that we never would have taken if it had cost money for film and development.

It is estimated that people take at least 100 times more photographs now than in the old days of filming and development.

Why not? There’s no reason we can’t have amazing photos of our furry friends, and fall is a great time of year to capture some wonderful memories of them.

But then again, winter is just around the corner, so we can brace ourselves for some amazing shots of our furry baby trying to catch snowflakes instead of leaves, and enjoying his first dip in snowdrifts!

Actually, it seems that it is not a bad time to take photos of our best friends!
