Dog Behavior Problems Solutions

I know from experience that even the best dogs are not always well behaved and have behavior problems. Imagine trying to deal with two English Mastiffs and a tiny Yorkie Poo. They are almost impossible to deal with when they are all together, which is quite often. However, you can learn the tips I did and how I figured out how to control my dogs better than ever. Some of the things I’m going to tell you about are training, positive reinforcement, and seeing your vet to rule out possible health problems.

One of the first things I had to do to help me with my dogs was find a dog training course. My husband didn’t like the idea very much, but after they were obedience trained, he was very happy that he wasn’t being dragged around the backyard anymore. So that little training helped tremendously. I feel that training can help dogs of any age or size. They can even help with dog behavior problems.

The next thing I did to help address my dogs’ behavior problems was to start with positive reinforcement. I know it’s a simple psychological problem to deal with, but it works quite well. I’ve found that when they misbehave, if I ignore them and don’t show any kind of affection towards the dog, it changes his attitude pretty quickly. Most dogs love attention, and without that attention, they will usually correct misbehavior quickly. However, you must remember that when the dog does something good, you have to give him love right away. I usually give a slap on the chest that according to the classes I have been to makes them feel proud of what they did. I have used treats as a reward at certain times, mostly when training them to come after I release them.

While those solutions generally work to deal with your dogs’ behavior, you may need to consult with your vet to help address the issues. I have had to do that for my cat even because his behavior is so terrible. Sometimes, as is the case with my cat, I would prescribe medication. That could be what your dog needs to correct any recurring behavior problems. Remember that your dog’s behavior can sometimes be due to health issues, so be sure to check with your vet before trying anything else.

So if your dog has behavior problems, you can try a variety of things. Some of those things include consulting with your vet about possible health issues, positive reinforcement, and dog training. Maybe a combination of all of those things is required, which is what I had to do with my dogs. Mainly training and positive reinforcement which seemed to help the best since they were just puppies, but in your older dogs they may be experiencing health issues so you should take your dog’s age into account before taking any steps to correct behavior.
