Stop child labor!

Child labor refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful. This practice is considered exploitative by many international organizations. It can also refer to the employment of children in any industry or business, especially when it is illegal or considered exploitative.

Of all the misdeeds in the world, child labor is probably the most frowned upon and the most dangerous, as it not only ruins the children of the present, but also proves detrimental to generations to come. Children are completely deprived of their right to attend regular school and receive a proper education, which can ruin their future. Other than that, they’re made to do work way beyond what their bodies can handle. Children are also not fed properly, which leads to malnutrition.

Main Causes of Child Labor
1. Poverty and Overpopulation: These two go hand in hand. In my underdeveloped or developing countries, people in rural areas have more children thinking that they will grow up and become a source of income. However, when the sole breadwinner of the family cannot meet the increasing needs of the children, then the family is left with no choice but to send their children to work to earn some extra money.

2. Illiteracy: The lack of education among the poor members of the society makes them not understand the importance of primary education and the benefits that education has on a child’s future. Being illiterate, they are also unaware of the social, physical and psychological trauma that work has on their children.

3. In many developed nations, large multinational companies hire children to work in factories or textile mills. They can force children to work as much as they want and they don’t have to worry about them going on strike or forming unions like these children, illiterate and ignorant of their rights. it’s more hands to work and fewer mouths to feed. Not being aware of their rights, children are paid extremely less but cannot retaliate.

4. Government apathy: Although there are strict laws in place regarding opposition to child labour, these laws are rarely strictly implied and not followed as they should be. The lack of interest and apathy of the government is solely responsible for the torture these children have to go through every day.

5. Families migrating from rural to urban areas often have less to survive on and with job opportunities declining day by day, children often have to bear the burden of supporting their families while adults move on. they remain unemployed.

How to solve the problems caused by child labor
The government must take very strict measures to ensure that all established child labor laws are strictly enforced and apply appropriate sanctions in case these laws are broken.
All children should receive free primary education and workshops should be held to teach families about the negative impacts of child labor on their children’s lives, as well as the importance of education.
Poor families must receive enough cash to survive until they have a job. Children should also be given cash for school uniforms, books, and other necessary supplies.
.To prevent other countries from hiring children, trade sanctions must be imposed and there must be boycotts of food consumption, machinery and all kinds of imports.

As soon as our children have the right to education and can live their childhood freely without responsibilities and consequences, we can all look forward to a better future!
