YogaMotion Music Review – White Swan Yoga Masters Volume 4

Lauren Peterson, another nationally recognized yoga practitioner and teacher, meticulously crafted Yoga Movement: White Swan Yoga Masters Vol. 4, as a sacred mixture of masculine and feminine energies. Lauren is one of the few advanced Ashtanga (Fourth Series) yoga practitioners in the United States. She has been featured in many magazines including yoga journalas well as on television on the PBS series HealingQuest. If you’re familiar with Dance Wave or Sweat Your Prayers events, you’ll easily appreciate the fabulous selection of music Lauren put together for Yoga-Motion. Starting with Shaman’s Dream’s slow, sultry “Invocation to Water” through track three, Mass Ensemble’s “Partner World,” you’ll be dancing like there’s no tomorrow.

Of course, you can choose to do yoga or other forms of movement instead of dancing to this fiery collection of songs, but dance is my thing. “Napas”, the next track, by Mercan Dede, continues with the intense, even outrageous, rhythm of the world beat. But then a few tracks later, Jai Uttal and Ben Leinbach slow things down a bit with “Mahadeva”. Before this exquisite CD concludes, Prem Joshua and Manish Vyas perform “Habibi” and Deva Premal sings “Guru Rinpoche Mantra” as only she can. In shorts, Yoga Movement: White Swan Yoga Masters Vol. 4 takes the listener on an extraordinary journey. With over 77 minutes of music, by the time you’re done moving your body to the beat of this delicious selection of tracks, you’ll be ready for a break.

As is often the case with great compilations, one of the pleasures of Yoga-Motion it’s a chance to meet some fantastic artists that you might not otherwise hear. I urge you to spend some time soon with the exaggerated, exotic joy of Yoga Movement: White Swan Yoga Masters Vol. Four.
