Computer viruses: China’s electronic devices are the latest sources

Some of our new favorite electronic devices are known to be causing serious problems with our computers. These devices, such as iPods, digital photo frames and navigation equipment, are sold with pre-installed viruses that are said to come from the factories where they are produced, most commonly in China.

As of now, it appears that the viruses stem from a lack of quality management in the factories. Most likely, once the devices roll off the assembly line, they will be tested on infected computers. Just like a human virus spreads, if a computer comes into contact with an infected computer, the virus will spread. Hence, the infected test computers are infecting the devices and then the devices infect the computers they are connected to after they are purchased. If an infected device spreads the virus to the consumer’s computer, that computer will spread the virus to whatever else the consumer connects to the computer.

However, improper management is not the only explanation for viruses. It is possible that a hacker is introducing viruses to devices when the software is loaded for the first time. If this is the case, the problem could be more serious than it currently appears. There are several different viruses that consumers have reported finding on infected devices, including the password stealing bug.

Since it is not known how many devices were shipped with pre-installed viruses, it is possible that thousands of people have installed infected programs on their computers. The best way to protect your computer from this happening is to keep your antivirus software up to date. Antivirus software looks for malicious code that can harm your computer.

However, some of the viruses have the potential to bypass computer protections, so it is essential to take special care when connecting new devices to your computer. You should also run a virus check after disconnecting the device. Until the virus problem is resolved, the best way to protect your computer and other electronic devices is to always be cautious and watch out for errors. Prevention is the best way to protect your computer from viruses.
