How to make ribbon rosebuds for Christmas

There are no set rules for decorating a Christmas tree, but themed decorations have always been quite popular. One of the popular themes is the Victorian style, where antique ornaments and floral decorations are used. Handmade flowers and rosebuds are the most popular options. You can use the rosebuds individually or collectively as an ornament. It is a simple craft, where children and adults can participate alike. The following tutorial will systematically guide you on how to draw a ribbon rosebud for Christmas.

Steps to make Christmas ribbon rosebuds:

• Supplies: Gather all your supplies in one place ahead of time, so you don’t have to rush to the store at the last minute. The raw material required for rosebuds is readily available and inexpensive. Will need:

– A 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch wide wire-edged French ribbon, about 1/2 to 2 yards long. The dimensions will depend on the size of the bud you want. Color is also purely a matter of choice. Some suggested selections could be pink, red velvet, yellow, orange, or shaded ribbon.

– A pair of scissors

– A floral stem wire about six inches long

– Simple thin wire

– Green floral ribbon

– Needle nose pliers or epilator

• Styles: Depending on how you want to use the bud on your Christmas tree, you may or may not like to have a stem. If you can secure some floral stem wires, that’s the easiest way. Alternatively, you can take a simple wire of the desired length and wrap it with green floral tape lengthwise.

• Basic Structuring: Take the tape and at one edge, start pulling the wire in such a way that it starts to come together in one place. Pull out about a third of the wire, but be careful not to let the fabric slip out the other corner. Read only evenly gathered cloth. Now the other edge of the tape is starting to look wrinkled. If you want a stem on your bud, use one of the variants described in the previous steps. Otherwise, use a pen or pencil. Begin wrapping the removed edge of the tape near the end of the pencil or wire. Wrap it as tightly as possible to impart the cocoon look. As you wrap, continue to adjust the shape with the pliers.

• Tuning: Twist the loose wire hanging from the edge to tighten and hold the cocoon base in place. If you were using a pen or pencil, carefully remove it before tying the base. Take some green tape and stick it over the end to cover the wire and make the thalamus. Are you ready!
