Any surgical operation can have scars. The essential thing is to locate the scars in a place that is not conspicuous, and to close the wound meticulously and take care to minimize the scars.

For upper eyelid surgery, incisions are often created in the crease of the eyelid, so when it heals it is not noticeable. For lower lids, incisions are inserted next to the lid (to remove or reposition fat) or perhaps below the lash line to hide it. The closure can also change lives.

Some surgeons like a better closure subcuticular (just below the surface of the skin) with a suture that can be removed in 5-7 days to reduce scarring. When the eye lift or blepharoplasty is done well and the patient takes good care of the scars, they usually look pretty.

Upper eyelid scars are set deep in a completely natural crease that is not visible when the eyes are open. The lower eyelids may or may not have a scar. If there is an external scar on the lower lid, it is usually just below the lash line.

Eventually, if you wear makeup, the scar basically disappears.

Excellent scars with eyelid surgery

The skin of the eyelids is among the thinnest skins on the body, which indicates that it is usually very difficult to see the scars of eyelid surgery. As with all types of scarring, there are many post-operative treatments to minimize any scarring.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be performed on the eyelid. This would not leave a noticeable scar. On the other hand, an external incision just below the lashes allows the excess skin of the lower eyelid to be removed. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty requires a scar, however, in most cases it is barely noticeable and hidden in the eyelid crease.

Blepharoplasty scars

On the face, every millimeter counts. Nowhere are scars more disturbing to your appearance, or even your surgeon’s reputation. Fortunately, upper eyelid scars are often nearly invisible.

The fine line that results from this surgery must certainly be placed specifically in a natural fold of the skin. The eyelid skin is one of the few regions of the body that is almost immune to keloid formation.

Visible scars have become rare after blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). The upper eyelid incision is hidden in the natural crease along with the lower one very close to the lash line, or sometimes there is no external incision at all (transconjunctival (on the eyelid) approach combined with laser resurfacing to tighten the skin ).

In rare cases, there may be a tendency for a thickened scar to form which can be anticipated and/or treated.

Blepharoplasty, or an eyelid lift, may cause insignificant or non-visible scarring. The upper lid scar should be well hidden when you look at the upper lid crease and any scar outside that crease should be in one of the many crow’s feet wrinkles. Lower lid scars should be really well hidden, 2 millimeters below the lower lash line and therefore well camouflaged by a shading effect just like the lashes.
