Mobile Marketing: Using an SMS Keyword for a Standard Rate Short Code Number for Advertising

When an advertiser is doing a commercial for radio or television, he runs a great ad (in his opinion), spends a fortune making and placing it, and (unless it’s a brand ad) thinks it will do him business. Now, if you’re driving down a highway and you hear that or you’re sitting in a chair watching it on TV, when the ad ends, will you remember the number? Will you remember the website address a few hours later when you sit down at your computer? If you do, aren’t you likely to visit competing websites as well? Oh and by the way only 70% of households in most countries have a computer not to mention the type of internet connection they have dial up frustrates many people its still very slow and videos they stop and start.

What if the same ad is published like this:

“Come and check out our beautiful hotel, text WEDDING to 51111 with standard rate”

Isn’t that memorable? Isn’t that easy to do?

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A MOBILE (CELL) PHONE, doesn’t this call to action work better?

Also, when a person sends a text, an advertiser has captured a number and can now call and SELL the requester. Isn’t that much better than sending you to a website to make a decision about what you see? on a website?

Just like the dot com rush, the next big rush will be for SMS to standard rate text number keywords for advertising purposes. Do you already have yours?
