The Nikon D3400 camera: fix the lens, insert the memory card and USB ports

The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera is Nikon’s offering for people who want to start a journey with DSLR photography. While the camera can do most things automatically, it will require the user to have a greater understanding of the technology at hand. This article is designed to help new owners correctly attach lenses to the camera, insert the memory card, and understand the ports on the side of the Nikon D3400.

The kit lens, which comes with this camera, is the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G lens, and it’s a great lens to begin with. It is a 3.1x normal zoom lens that covers the 18-55mm focal length range. It’s a fast and accurate autofocus lens and it’s also fairly quiet, which is helpful if you bought this camera for video shooting. However, like all photographic equipment, it is very important that you take care of it. Fitting it to the camera correctly will help protect your lens and your Nikon D3400. If you look to the side of the lens mount of the camera, there is a white dot and if you look to the side of the lens, near its bayonet fitting, you will see that there is also a white dot. The goal is to remove both caps very carefully and match up the two white dots by gently snapping it into the bayonet socket and then turning it counterclockwise until it clicks. All you have to do then is open the lens by pressing the button on its side and turning the lens so that the front faces away. you cannot use the camera to take pictures if the lens has not been opened in this way.

Although you get almost everything you need in the box when you buy the NIKON D3400 to get you shooting almost immediately, the one thing you don’t have when you get the box is a memory card, and of course, you need a memory card. to store the images and videos you record on the camera. I suggest getting a Sandisk card and the reason is that Sandisk will guarantee the life of the card. It’s important to remember that they won’t guarantee what’s on the card, but if the card fails, Sandisk will replace it. It’s a little more. I would also recommend getting a 16GB or 32GB card so you have plenty of space. if you record videos, you will need it. However, I wouldn’t use anything larger because you may be tempted to use the card as a drive and store pictures and videos on it. You should really only use the memory card as temporary storage and save your files to a computer or hard drive as soon as you can. The best types of cards are SDHC or SDXC. The card port is on the right side of the camera as you hold it in front of you. You open the door by pulling it slightly forward and insert the card with the label facing you. It’s a spring loaded mechanism so just push it in until it clicks. If it doesn’t go in easily, then it may be the other way around. What you will notice is that when you push it all the way in, a green light flashes on the back of the camera to indicate that it is being done correctly. If you need to take the card out, just press the card and since it’s on a spring it will bounce back.

On the other side are two ports or plugs. These are very useful because they are a USB port that allows you to transfer your images directly from the camera to your laptop, which is really nice if you don’t have a computer that has a memory card port and you don’t have a card reader and , below, an HDMI port that allows you to display your images on a television. None of these cables are provided for you in the box, so if you want to do any of those things, you have to purchase the cables separately.
