Are navel rings in fashion?

Navel piercings have been very popular in recent years as young women enjoy wearing navel rings and showing off their midriff. Now this trend is being followed by a new one that allows people to pierce virtually any part of their body.

Ever since Christy Turlington walked the runway in her navel piercing in the mid-’90s, navel rings have grown in popularity, especially among women of high school and college age. Most states have laws that prohibit piercing for anyone under the age of 18, but some states allow parental consent to get around this age limit. Belly button jewelery was ideal for the low-rise pants and halter tops popular for the past ten years and will always look good with bathing suits and the right kind of nightwear. However, as fashion moves toward new trends like high-waisted pants and peasant tops, will belly button rings be as much fun to wear?

Of course, there are always the accepted piercing locations of the ears, nose, mouth, and eyebrows. These continue to be popular and there are tons of cute pieces of jewelry to show off with any of these options. However, another type of piercing to consider is dermal anchoring or microdermal implants. This technique allows you to place an anchor virtually anywhere on your body. Many people have them on their chest or arms or even on their face. The technician lifts the top layer of skin and drills a plate that will hold the top stud or jewelry in place. It’s supposed to be easy to do (by a professional, of course) and heal relatively quickly. You can even do a pattern with multiple implants.

And, once healed, you can change the jewelry as often as you like. There is sparkly jewelry available for when you want to turn heads and skin tone jewelry for those times when you want to play things down. As with any piercing, you need to keep your navel rings clean and take care of yourself. Titanium is recommended for the material; stay away from anything that isn’t hypoallergenic.

Are you ready to move from navel rings to microdermal anchors? If you are over 18, only you can say so!
