This 114-mile bike route is one of the best to take during the spring or summer months, when there’s a cool breeze and warm air enveloping you as you ride. You travel along NC 12 and follow the outer shores of North Carolina. You will travel along the highway with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Intercoastal Waterway on the other side. There are very few and far between service stations on the road to get to Avon. You can even get high gas prices along the route if your choice of gas is premium. If you choose to go north to Kitty Hawk, NC. then you will find museums and a park dedicated to the Wright brothers that are worth visiting during the trip. Once you reach this point, you can turn around, allowing you to return to where you came from during the initial part of the journey.
