The organizing deck

You divide the cards into two piles, turn them towards each other, lift the inside edges, apply a little pressure and… Viola! 2 stacks are mixed into one.

Yeah!

… Well, have you ever organized your area by grouping smaller piles into larger piles?

I hate to say it, but you’re doing the Organizing Shuffle. For some reason right now I hear “Do the Hustle” softly in the background)

OK, the Random Organizer also includes:

– Move items from one room to another, to sort them later.

– Clearing an area, only to put everything back.

– Picking up the same object more than twice and putting it down again because you don’t know what to do with it. (probably will only be picked up again very soon)

How do you combat the choreographed movement of your stuff? FOR. You’ve decided you want to organize, right? The hard truth: you will have to get rid of some things. I am not saying that this is an easy task. Although I have seen the benefits in people’s lives by leaving out some elements.

Remember, 80% of the clutter in most homes is the result of disorganization, not a lack of space.

Start with a small project. You may only be able to drop 1 or 2 items the first time. That’s better than nothing, right? The next project considers setting aside 4-6 items…heck, maybe a whole box of stuff.

You’ll start to feel lighter, the air will breathe easier in your lungs, and looking around you you’ll feel proud of your organizing project. Maybe ready to tackle another room.
